Q: What's showing at Big Sky next week/2 or 3 weeks from now? Will you be showing (my favorite movie) at Big Sky this summer?
A: Because of the number of new movies coming out and the high demand for the big hits, the Big Sky management doesn't find out for sure what will be available until the Monday or Tuesday before the weekend when the movies change. We DO get the top releases on their earliest release dates, so you will be able to see the box office hits at Big Sky the same day that they're in the big indoor theaters. As soon as we know what movies will be available, they will be listed on the website. If there is no Coming Soon link on the Now Showing page the next week's listings are not available yet.

Q: Why can't I watch the first movie on one side, then switch to the second movie on the other side?
A: The movies on each side are packages provided by specific companies. Throughout the season the various companies send representatives to the theater anonymously to count how many people watch which side so they know they're getting their full commission for their movies. If someone switches from one side to another, BOTH movie companies can demand an admission fee from Big Sky for that person. Since the commissions paid to movie companies when one of the big hits is showing can be over 50% of the ticket price, people switching sides can cost the theater more than the price paid for admission.

If you go into a store and see two Buy One Get One Free offers from different companies, very seldom will you be able to select one of each item and get the discount.

If you wish to switch screens after the first feature is over, you must either pay a second admission fee (remember, you've already seen one first run feature for less than at the indoor theaters) or leave.

This policy complies with the contract agreements that Big Sky management have with the movie companies and need to be enforced to continue to bring you multiple top hits at our low prices.

Q: How much does it cost for admission to Big Sky?
A: Adult admission is $8, children are $5.

Q: What time do the movies start?
A: The movies begin at dusk. The actual time varies depending on the time of year, but it is usually between 8:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.

Q: In what order are the movies shown?
A: The movies are shown in the order they are listed on the Big Sky website and posters distributed throughout the Wisconsin Dells area businesses.

Q: What if the weather is bad? Will we get refunds?
A: Most of the time rain only lasts from 5 to 15 minutes, which is a very small part of a 90 to 150 minute movie, so the movie isn't stopped. If the weather is REAL bad, the management may choose to end the show and either provide refunds or passes to another night. Refunds or passes are not provided during the second feature because visitors have already seen one movie at a price less than indoor theaters charge for the same movie.

Q: Do you take credit/debit cards?
A: No, Big Sky is not equipped to process credit cards. Credit card processing companies charge fees for their processing services, and that would mean raising prices for everything. Our prices are lower than the indoor theaters for the same movies and food, and we want to keep the costs to our customers down to make their visit to Big Sky even better.

Q: Do you take checks?
A: No, Big Sky does not accept checks. There have been problems in the past with collecting for bad checks, and collection costs for the amounts involved have been prohibitive.

Q: Where can I get a map/directions to Big Sky?
A: Big Sky is here (map opens in new window).

Q: Do you have gift certificates available?
A: No, we don't offer gift certificates.

Q: Can I bring my own food or drinks along?
A: Yes. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed, and grills or other cooking apparatuses are forbidden by the fire department. If you run out of food, there's always the famous Big Mama Burger in the concession stand, plus many other goodies to enjoy the Big Sky movie with.

Q: Can I bring my dog or cat along?
A: Yes, pets are welcome. You must keep all pets under control and clean up after them. There is no charge for a pet to come to a Big Sky movie.

Q: When is Big Sky open?
A: Big Sky usually opens the first Friday in May and is open Fridays and Saturdays only through Memorial Day weekend. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend Big Sky is open 7 days a week. After Labor Day weekend Big Sky is open Fridays and Saturdays through the end of September.
